Cabel tie, Weaving

Chinese Ming dynasty chair is a favored object by Chinese contemporary artists as a subject matter in the art creation or as tasteful furniture piece in daily use. Using digital-age material, cable tie to construct a traditional chair is my commentary on its popular use in Chinese contemporary art scene. By marrying an unconventional material with a traditional artifact, this work presents and questions a popular approach-multiple duplication in Chinese contemporary art making; overdose of repeating in art making can make favored into hot-seated. Both red color and chair implicate Power in Chinese culture.
