Dwell.Rest is part of my ongoing project “Changing Urban Landscape”, which evolves to addresses issues and happenings of changing urban spaces and their dwellers through art installations. “Dwell-Rest” addresses people’s living condition under air pollution threat, which has drawn serious national cries particularly from urban dwellers in China’s more-developed zones. It presents these concerns through onsite-build needle installation to materialize invisible harms in the air and express people’s feeling and stance. The bed, thread, and needles encourage critical thinking towards human activities and nature and their two-way impacts on each other.
